The only 100 % natural library in the world.
Discover a company of paper bundles of all colours and shapes - under the treetops.

Library under the Treetops is designed as a collection of competent easy reading. The accumulated books, newspapers and magazines represent all genres and many formats, especially those that come in handy in a peaceful setting of selected urban areas. Some are epic, for visitors with a lot of time and concentration, many of them quite simple, for one-to-two-hour stops, and of course there is a wide selection of reading for just a short leafing through during the visit.

This year Ljubljana is the World Book Capital and on this occasion the treetops and libraries underneath them have spread. This summer readers may experience the shadow on 6 islands with a free reading policy. They are strategically positioned in the loveliest parts of town: Tivoli park, Ljubljana Botanical garden, Tabor park, Breg enbankment, Trnovski pristan enbankment and Ljubljana Castle. The diversity of the islands will be the primarily guaranteed by set of books, newspapers and magazines, divided in the six substantially different units, as well as a thematic set of literary treats. Part of the lawn is also dedicated to you, our tourist friend. You will be able to read, enjoy and take notes in the noble embrace of Ljubljana Castle with a handy collection of books, newspapers and magazines of different styles and languages, packed with stories of Ljubljana and Slovenia. Come. See them for yourself.

ABOUT THE LOCATION:
The dock under the chestnut.

Ljubljana Castle, surrounded by trees is proud to say, that it is the only provincial castle in Slovenia and its most visited tourist attraction. It was built on the Castle Hill in the 12th century by the Duke Spanheim. A century later it was enclosed by the wall that was further consolidated in the times of Turkish invasions. Within its walls the Castle is hiding the artesian well, Šance, the castle dungeon, the Kazemate gallery, the chapel of St. George. But the people of Ljubljana take a step into the Castle when their heart tells them so: from the nineteen nineties they utter their "I do" in the wedding chapel and live happily ever after. Today the Castle Hill, alongside with The Rožnik and Golovec Hill draws the sassy curves of the city, so we will not hold it against you, if your eyes occasionally wander away from the books.
